A POLYACRYLONITRILE (PAN) BASED HOLLOW FIBRE MEMBRANE FOR CLARIFICATION OF TENDER COCONUT WATER WITH DESIRED STORAGE STABILITY

A polyacrylonitrile (PAN) based hollow fibre membrane for clarification of tender coconut water with desired storage stability. A hollow fiber membrane based on polyacrylonitrile (PAN) has been provided for suitable use in clarification of tender coconut water with desired storage stable long shelf life. Importantly, the hollow fiber membrane of the advancement for such purpose is found to be 44 kDa molecular weight cut off membrane which enabled removal of the sites of potent bacterial growth without any thermal sterilization. Advantageously, the advancement increases the shelf life of tender coconut water significantly without any need for adding any preservative after aseptic packaging. The thus clarified tender coconut from ultrafiltration is found to be rich in polyphenol (anti-oxidant), sugar, potassium and sodium and can be stored under refrigeration for about 18 weeks without the deterioration of taste, aroma and nutritional qualities.
