SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR OFFLINE AND ONLINE TRANSLITERATION IN COMPUTING DEVICES FOR MULTILINGUAL INPUTS

ABSTRACT A computer implemented system for transliterating textual information from a first language to a second language is disclosed. The system includes a repository that stores syllables and alphabets corresponding to each of the languages supported by the system. The repository stores syllables and alphabets transcribed into all the languages supported by the system. Users input textual information using a first language. The system splits the textual information into a plurality of syllables, and further into constituent alphabets. Subsequently, transcribed syllables and transcribed alphabets corresponding to the syllables and alphabets contained in the textual information are identified, at least in part based on position of occurrence of the syllables and alphabets in the textual information. The transcribed syllables and alphabets are grouped to form a character string corresponding to the second language specified by the user thereby reproducing the input textual information in the second language.
