The present Invention relates to a test for measurement of optical activity of albumin-bilirubin ([A-B]) complex in plasma of severe alcoholic hepatitis (SAH) patients by using circular dichroism (CD) spectroscopy. The method described herein provides besides ease of use, a very rapid and cheap diagnostic test for early outcome prediction in SAH patients. This is a test where the albumin and bilirubin complex in circulation is measured with the help of circular dichroism (CD). Circular dichroism is the difference in light absorbance between left circularly polarized light (LCPL) and right circularly polarized light (/-CPL). The instrument used to measure CD is known as circular dichroism spectrophotometer. This is also commonly termed as circular dichroism spectropolarimeter or circular dichrograph.
