The invention explains a method to dynamically add a new language or setting to an MFP without changing a firmware of the MFP. This is achieved by enabling the firmware to accept localized strings or settings of a new language via an external I/O channel in the form of a PRN file. A parser/interpreter in the MFP decodes the input and replaces the default existing array (English array) with the localized strings in a string table. Once the string table is updated with the localized strings, the new language is reflected in the user interface.
