The method also comprises formation of fluxes of visible light with the wavelength λ1 in the first collimating units and of ultraviolet light with the wavelength λ2 in the second collimating units, collimation of light fluxes by means of lens, formation of a light spot of rectangular or oval shape with the help of an optical chopper with a width of at least twice greater than the diameter of the microwire, transverse illumination of the microwire, capture of the flux attenuated by the microwire with the help of photodetectors, transmission of photodetected signals to differential gain units, which form electrical signals with the value Uλ1 and Uλ2 respectively, transmission of these signals to a calculation unit and calculation of the diameter of the core and the thickness of the microwire glass cladding.
