The invention relates to materials made of hard thin layers as single layers adhering to the carrier they are applied to, resistant to corrosion, having biocompatible properties, meant to be used for increasing the life of implantable active medical devices. According to the invention, the materials are made of thin layers as single layers of silicon-oxynitrides of the general formula MeMeSiON, where Meand Meare various biocompatible transition metals from the series Ti, Zr, Nb, Ta and Hf, where the elemental concentrations for Me, Me, O and N vary from 10% to 90%, the Si concentration varies from 4% to 8%, the Me:Meconcentration ratio varies from 0.1 to 0.9 and the sum of the oxygen and nitrogen concentrations and the sum of concentrations of the constituent metals are in a ratio (O+N):(Me+Me) which varies from 0.5 to 2.
