The invention relates to a method for identifying the optimal strategy of increasing the availability of IT&C networks and services, irrespective of the technologies thereof, of the type of equipments and of their geographical installation (global, regional or local networks), as well as of the operational processes used by the organization managing them. The method improves the availability of the IT&C networks and services, having also a positive effect upon more efficient spending of operational budgets. The method uses data from fault record systems and classifies them based on the fault occurrence, duration and the cumulative time of service interruption, while identifying where the focusing on fault prevention, from the viewpoint of the service and network availability, is optimal and where the focusing on reducing the duration thereof is optimal. As claimed by the invention, the method also identifies the activities having effects on the total duration of fault solving and quantifies the delays in each solving stage, so that the optimal strategy to be applied for reducing the process delays is easily identified.
