A method for determining in a subject the efficacy of a treatment with a PCSK9 inhibitor / silencer, comprising determining, in a sample of said subject, the concentration of Cer (d18: 1/16: 0), in which a concentration decreased in said sample, when compared to a control, indicates high efficacy of said treatment.
