A dispensing system adapted to dispense a contrast media used in a method of medical imaging, the dispensing system comprising a dispensing device (120) configured to deliver the contrast media to a patient; an analysis device (130) adapted to receive and analyze a biological fluid sample from the patient to determine a level of at least one substance in the biological fluid sample, the test device (130) being adapted to inform an operator of system level at least one substance, the analyzing device (130) being further adapted to inform the operator if the level of the at least one substance is within a selected range, and the analysis device (130) further it is adapted to be in communication with the dispensing device (120) about whether to administer the contrast medium; wherein the at least one substance is selected from the group consisting of: blood urea nitrogen (BUN); creatinine; or combinations thereof.
