A switching device for a data card with a battery power module, the switching device comprising a connection detection module and a battery connection deactivation module inside the battery power module; wherein the connection detection module is configured to detect if the data card is connected to a computer through a computer interface of the data card and to control the battery connection deactivation module to activate a battery circuit of the data card when it is determined that the data card is connected to the computer and to control the battery connection deactivation module to deactivate the battery circuit of the data card when it is determined that the data card is disconnected from the computer; and the battery connection deactivation module is configured to activate or deactivate the battery circuit of the data card under control of the connection detection module.
