A method of determining the stress that should be applied to a tire during an indoor bench endurance test, including the method the steps of: driving a vehicle (1) along a sample road route; measure variations in the longitudinal speed (Vx) and the position (P) of the vehicle (1) when it advances along the road route shows; and calculate the inertial forces (FIx, FIy) that act on at least one tire (2) of the vehicle (1) when it advances along the road route shown, based on variations in the longitudinal speed (Vx) and the position (P) of the vehicle (1); the method being characterized because it includes the additional steps of: transforming the inertial forces (FIx, FIy) and the longitudinal velocity (Vx) of the time domain to the space domain; expand the longitudinal velocity (Vx) in the space domain by applying a first multiplication factor (kv) greater than one; expand the space by applying a second multiplication factor (ks) greater than one and equal to or greater than the first multiplication factor (kv), and resample the expanded longitudinal velocity (Vx) and inertial forces (FIx, FIy) with regarding the expanded space; and re-transform the resampled longitudinal velocity (Vx) and resampled inertial forces (FIx, FIy) from the space domain to the time domain.
