Use of Intravenous and intracoronary melatonin to limit the size of acute myocardial infarction with ST segment elevation

The invention relates to the use of intravenous and intracoronary melatonin for limiting the size of an ST-segment elevation acute myocardial infarction. The administration thereof is carried out according to the following method: first, intravenous melatonin is administrated in a dose of 11.6 mgr in a perfusor syringe, minutes before performing the primary angioplasty, and said administration is sustained for 60 minutes; then, the intracoronary melatonin is administered in a dose of 2 mgr in the coronary artery responsible for the infarction, after thrombus aspiration has been carried out.
