A curved elongated supporting pillar for a high-strength structural componentused inan aircraft and a method of manufacturing the supporting pillar. Thesupporting pillaris designed to absorb bending forces that act transversely to a longitudinaldirectionof extension of the supporting pillar. The supporting pillar comprises a wallwhich atleast partially encloses an elongated cavity of the supporting pillar andwhich forms atubular structure. The supporting pillar further comprises a disc-shapedreinforcement structure which is arranged within the cavity and transverselyto thedirection of the longitudinal extension in order to improve flexural rigidity.Thereinforcement structure is formed integrally with the wall, wherein both thewall andthe reinforcement structure are formed with a plastic or metallic material.The designof the supporting pillar provides an enhanced buckling resistance.
