A binder resin for toner in the present invention includes acarboxy group-containing vinyl resin (C) , aglycidylgroup-containing vinyl resin (E) , a reactant thereof, and a specificfatty acid metal salt (M) , in which the carboxy group-containing vinylresin (C) includes a high molecular weight vinyl resin (H) havinga peak in a region in which the molecular weight is equal to or morethan 2×10 4 and equal to or less than 2×10 5 in the molecularweightdistribution of a THF soluble content measured by GPC and a lowmolecular weight vinyl resin (L) having a peak in a region in whichthe molecular weight is equal to or more than 2×10 3 and equal to orless than 2×10 4 in the molecular weight distribution of a THF solublecontent measured by GPC, and in which the reactant of the carboxygroup-containing vinyl resin (C) and the glycidyl group-containingvinyl resin (E) is formed in the presence of the fatty acid metalsalt (M) .
