In terms of the method the boarding area (A, B, C) of a transport means (9) isdividedinto at least two gates (1, 2, 3), the maximum person capacity of whichrespectivelycorresponds to the maximum capacity of the largest transport means (9), whichis accessiblevia the boarding area (A, B, C), wherein entrance into the gates (1, 2, 3) iseffected via atleast one separating device (4) connected with the control system (5) for thepurpose of datacommunication and wherein entrance into a gate (1, 2, 3) is not possible, oncethe numberof persons in the gate (1, 2, 3) specified by the control system (5) for thecurrent boardingoperation is reached, or while the persons inside a gate (1, 2, 3) board atransport means,wherein the number of persons in a gate (1, 2, 3) specified for the currentboardingoperation is determined by the control system (5) in dependence of thetransport demand insubsequent intermediate stations ahead of an end station, providedintermediate stationsexist, and of the free capacity of the arriving transport means (9), whereinfor the currentboarding operation the persons inside a gate (1, 2, 3) are assigned to anarriving transportmeans (9), and wherein the current number of persons inside a gate (1, 2, 3)is detected viaat least one separating device (4) and forwarded to the control system (5),and whereinwhen the number of persons inside the gate (1, 2, 3) specified for the currentboardingoperation has been reached or when a specified timer which corresponds to aspecified timewindow has expired and a transport means (9) arrives to which the personscurrently in thegate (1, 2, 3) are assigned, the persons which are inside the gate (1, 2, 3)are requested toboard and a counter for the number of persons in the gate (1, 2, 3) is set tozero.
