A standardized hot-pluggable transceiving unit comprising ahousing, a board and a chipset. The housing has specific standardizeddimensions and is adapted to being inserted into a chassis of a hosting unit.Theboard and chipset are in the housing. The board comprises at least two electro-mechanicalcomponents. The chipset also comprises at least two electro-mechanicalcomponents. Each electro-mechanical component of the chipsetcollaborates with a corresponding electro-mechanical component of the boardforsimultaneously providing a mechanical anchor and an electrical connectionbetween the chipset and the board. The chipset further comprises aprogrammable processing component for processing a signal transmitted by theboard via the electrical connection between the board and the chipset. Forinstance, the programmable processing component of the chipset comprises acoding module for encoding or decoding data having a first form into datahavinga second form.
