Disclosed is a method for producing an aviation fuel oil base, which comprises: a first step wherein a raw material oil containing an oxygen-containing hydrocarbon compound that is derived from an animal/plant oil or fat is brought into contact with a first bifunctional catalyst, which has dehydrogenation and hydrogenation functions and contains a group 6A metal and a group 8 metal of the periodic table and an amorphous solid acidic substance, in the co-presence of hydrogen, thereby hydrogenating the raw material oil and obtaining a first produced oil; and a second step wherein the first produced oil is brought into contact with a second bifunctional catalyst, which has dehydrogenation and hydrogenation functions and contains a group 8 metal of the periodic table and a crystalline solid acidic substance, in the co-presence of hydrogen, thereby hydrogenating and isomerizing the first produced oil and obtaining a second produced oil that contains an aviation fuel oil base.
