The invention relates to a device (21) and to a method for producing a driver signal, by means of which an acousto-optic component (15) can be controlled such that the carrier-envelope phase for each N-th laser pulse of the train (5) of short laser pulses equidistant in time is corrected to the same fixed phase value by means of the acousto-optic component. For this purpose, the driver signal according to the invention is formed as an electrical frequency-comb signal having an offset, the frequency spectrum of which frequency-comb signal simultaneously has a plurality of discrete frequency components, wherein adjacent frequency components in the frequency spectrum have a frequency distance (Δf = fREP/N), which corresponds to an N-th part of the repetition rate (fREP), and an integer M can be individually associated with each of the discrete frequency components such that the frequency fM of said individual discrete frequency component KM can be expressed mathematically as a sum of the carrier-envelop offset frequency fCEO, which is the same for all frequency components, and a product that is specific to each frequency component, which product is formed from said individually associated integer M and the N-th part of the repetition rate (fREP) of the laser pulses in the train of short laser pulses.
