A variable-speed auger with improved drilling efficiency and durability of the present invention is attached to an excavator or a crane to drill a small hole for inserting a telegraph pole or a small or medium pile. The auger comprises: an auger operating part which supplies rotary power for excavation, the auger operating part having a frame attachable to the excavator or the crane; and a drilling part which is attached to the lower part of the auger operating part to directly drill through the ground.
