The invention relates to a method for welding a ball (2) to another component (1). The invention is characterized by the following steps: - providing a sonotrode (3) which has a trough-shaped recess (3b), in particular a spherical cap-shaped recess, - pressing the ball (2) against the other component (1) by means of the sonotrode (3), said ball (2) protruding into the trough-shaped recess, and - vibrating the ball (2) by means of the sonotrode (3) such that material of the ball (2) and/or material of the other component (1) melts, and the ball (2) is welded to the other component (1).
