GAP DETECTION FOR TIMING ACQUSITION AT A USER EQUIPMENT (UE) IN A TD-SCDMA NETWORK

The present disclosure is related to gap detection at a user equipment (UE) for a timing acquisition in a time division synchronous code division multiple access (TD-SCDMA) network. For example, the disclosure presents a method for performing a gap detection for identifying gap positions when a signal is present in a frequency band, computing gap detection metrics for gap positions identified by the gap detection, identifying a gap position with a highest gap detection metric, comparing the highest gap detection metric with a first threshold value, and determining that the gap detection at the UE is not associated with a TD-SCDMA signal and stopping the timing acquisition at the UE when the highest gap detection metric is less than the first threshold value. As such gap detection at a UE may be performed.
