METHODS FOR GUAYULE STAND ESTABLISHMENT BY DIRECT FIELD SEEDING

Methods for guayule stand establishment by direct field seeding may include preparing one or more seedbeds in a field with aerated soil. The seedbeds are shaped in the aerated soil and one or more seed furrows are formed in the seedbeds. Guayule seeds are planted in seed furrow and mulch is added to cover the seed furrow. After a period of time allowing for some guayule seed germination or growth, the mulch is at least partially removed. The resulting stand of guayule plants in the seedbed are allowed to grow, and then may be harvested. Such direct field seeding methods offer significant advantage over conventional direct-seeding methods and customarily used transplanted seedling methods.
