The invention relates to an exhaust-gas turbocharger (2) for an internal combustion engine (1), having a turbine (3), having a bypass line (7) which is provided in parallel with the turbine (3) in terms of flow, and having a cross-section adjustment element (9) for adjustment of the throughflow cross section of the bypass line (7). Here, it is provided that the cross-section adjustment element (9) is provided in the form of a ball valve, and that a valve element (13) of the ball valve (9) is mounted in floating fashion in a valve housing (10) and is arranged between two bearing shells (14, 15) which are likewise provided in the valve housing (10). The invention also relates to a method for producing an exhaust-gas turbocharger (2) for an internal combustion engine (1).
