An urban planning model display system, comprising an urban physical model, a display screen, an illumination system, and a control cabinet. The areas of the urban physical model are covered by a coordinate system, and the display screen displays a 3D rendering and video for each coordinate point; the illumination system comprises optical fibres and LED lights, the optical fibre ends being distributed at the various pixel points on the urban physical model such as trees, rivers, roads, pipelines, and buildings. A rendered image of the urban physical model is created by superimposing sub-frame images, said sub-frame images forming a continuous dynamic image when displayed chronologically; the optical fibres behind the sub-frame images are folded into an optical fibre bundle, an LED light is disposed at the end of each optical fibre bundle, said LED light providing the optical fibre bundle with a light source, and the control cabinet turns on and off the circuit supplying power to each LED according to the display order of the sub-frame images. A continuous dynamic image is formed by displaying the sub-frame images chronologically, and some of the LED lights can be turned on to implement a partial display focusing on the corresponding part.
