The present invention provides: an electrolyte solution for a lithium secondary battery, comprising 10-50 wt% of a cyclic carbonate-based compound and 50-90 wt% of a linear ester-based compound on the basis of the total weight of a nonaqueous solvent, wherein the amount of ethyl propionate in the linear ester-based compound is 20-60 wt% on the basis of the total weight of a nonaqueous solvent; and a lithium secondary battery exhibiting an excellent low temperature characteristic by containing the same.
