Provided are a graphene-enhanced composite copper-based contact material and a process for preparation thereof. The material is composed of (by mass percentage): oxide powder: 0.01-10, carbide powder: 0.01-2, and the balance of copper powder of copper alloy powder coated with graphene having a thickness of not more than 10 nanometers. The copper-based contact material has the characteristics of being low and stable in contact resistance, good in electrical arc erosion resistance and excellent in welding resistance, and can be applied to low-voltage circuit breakers, contactors and relays in lieu of existing silver-based contact materials.
