An optical fiber, a method for producing the optical fiber, and a laser transmission method using the optical fiber are provided. The disclosed optical fiber comprises: a core member having a refractive index that substantially decreases as the radius becomes larger from the center; and a clad which is provided so as to enclose the core member. The clad has a higher refractive index than the refractive index of the core member at the core-clad boundary where the core member and the clad meet. The disclosed optical fiber is capable of transmitting a high-quality and high-power laser beam.
