Disclosed in an embodiment of the present invention is a data center based fault analysis method, comprising: acquiring a topology structure graph, nodes in the topology structure graph comprising a component apparatus of the data center and a virtual machine operating in the data center; when the data center fails, acquiring a fault alarm, and determining whether the fault causes reduction of communication paths between each virtual machine in a virtual machine set operating in the data center according to the topology structure graph. The present invention can analyze actual effects of fault on each service operating on the data center, thus improving degree of accuracy of the fault analysis of the data center.
