The present invention proposes a real-time data verification and data reconciliation system for refineries, wherein said system has capabilities of computation and data recording as well as means for output such that raw data is collected from a plurality of data sources; said raw data is converted into a data stream (100); said system performs a proportion test which detects, at the step of deciding (12) the state of the process, whether the data received from each data source represents a steady state or a dynamic state, and if a steady state is detected, a steady state data reconciliation and coarse error detection (14) is performed using instantaneous mass balance method wherein system dynamics and memory effect are ignored; wherein steady state data (104) from each sensor (1) is optimized; if a dynamic state is detected, a dynamic state data reconciliation and coarse error detection (13) is performed on the dynamic state data (105) for each data source, according to Kalman filter, by using an offline data set according to Autoregressive Moving Average method; the system classifies (15) the coarse error data to generate an alarm and/or warning notifications (16).
