Transportation services are matched with transportation service providers (TSPs) in response to received transportation requests according to a specified demand for transportation services. Categories of transportation services met by capabilities of the transportation service provider is determined, along with preference data concerning the transportation service provider. A shipping lane is determined and the transportation request is parsed. Respondents are queried and bids are received and prices, corresponding to the bids, are provided to an entity submitting the transportation request, and the bid is confirmed. If the transportation service provider wins the bid, provision of the transportation service are arranged, and if the transportation service provider loses the bid, repeating the sequence of using the candidate service interest to match the transportation service provider to the specified demand for transportation services.
