The present invention relates to a display device for performing a bending operation and a method for controlling the same. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the display device can: detect a first bending input, detected when a flexible display unit is bent in a first direction with respect to a first shaft; perform a first operation based on the first bending input; detect a second bending input while maintaining an unbent state of the flexible display unit; and perform the first operation based on the second bending input. The second bending input is detected by combining first control input with second control input. The first control input may correspond to the first shaft. The second control input may correspond to the first direction.
