The present invention relates to graphene quantum dots in a core-shell structure and a method for producing the same and, more specifically, to graphene quantum dots in a core-shell structure having a shell formed by mixing a graphene quantum dot solution with a liquid capping agent and coating the graphene quantum dots with the capping agent, then forming a shell while putting a compound semiconductor solution at fixed temperature and ratio, and to a method for producing the same. Disclosed is the method for producing graphene quantum dots in a core-shell structure which comprises the following steps: (a) mixing a graphene quantum dot solution with a liquid capping agent, which is coated on the surface of the graphene quantum dots so as to be capable of dissolving the graphene quantum dots in an organic solvent, and then heating the mixture at a first temperature so as to remove the solvent from the graphene quantum dots, and coating the graphene quantum dots with the capping agent; and (b) additionally, putting a compound semiconductor solution consisting of elements between group 2 to group 6 at a certain rate per unit time while mixing the same at a second temperature so as to form the shell on the surface of the graphene quantum dots with the compound semiconductor. According to the present invention, the graphene quantum dots in the core-shell structure is produced by mixing the graphene quantum dot solution with the liquid capping agent and coating the graphene quantum dots with the same, then forming a shell using the compound semiconductor solution, thereby having a high quantum yield and improved solubility, and furthermore, realizing graphene quantum dots in a core-shell structure which is capable of composing the core-shell structure including various kinds of shells and ligands.
