The present invention relates to a peptide capable of inhibiting activities and differentiation of osteoclast, and to a use thereof. The peptide of the present invention comprises a class of amino acid sequences selected from the group consisting of amino acid sequences represented by SEQ ID NO: 1 and SEQ ID NO: 3. The peptide has capability of inhibiting activities and differentiation of osteoclast and is useful for treating and preventing bone disease associated with bone destruction. In addition, the peptide of the present invention decreases expression of both trp RNA-binding attenuation protein (TRAP) and cathepsin K which are related to osteoclast differentiation. The peptide also inhibits translocation of nuclear factor-kappaB (NF-kappa B) into a nucleus, thereby ultimately suppressing osteoclast differentiation. The present invention further provides a composition for treating or preventing bone diseases, containing the peptide.
