NOVEL COMPOSITION FOR ENHANCING COGNITIVE FUNCTION OF ALZHEIMER'S PATIENTS

The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for improving cognitive functions of a patient with Alzheimers diseases and, more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition comprising a ginsenoside-containing fraction derived from a fruit extract of steam-dried ginseng as an active ingredient for improving cognitive functions of a patient with an Alzheimers disease. According to an embodiment of the present invention, the ginsenoside Rd and Re-containing extract of the steam-dried ginseng fruit is capable of upregulating the expression of vesicular acetylcholine transporter (AChE) and choline acetyltransferase (ChAT) related to the improvement of cognitive functions of a patient with an Alzheimers disease, and penetrating a blood brain barrier. Therefore, the composition can be effectively used for improving cognitive functions of a patient with an Alzheimers disease.
