The present invention relates to an apparatus and a method for calculating a wind load considering a topographic factor. According to one embodiment of the present invention, the apparatus for calculating a wind load includes: an information collecting unit collecting location and height information of multiple points within a target area; a first target area setting unit setting a first area different from the target area by using the height information or the location information; a second target area setting unit setting a second target area including a point in which a peak and a structure of the first target area are located; a gradient calculating unit calculating gradients of multiple target areas within the second target area by using the location and height information; and a windward side gradient calculating unit calculating a windward side gradient by statistically processing the gradients of the target areas. Therefore, the apparatus and method for calculating a wind load can reflect the influence of topography on winds quantitatively and rationally.
