The present invention relates to a mineral hydrate insulation material reducing the material costs by reducing the use of natural resources and recycling industrial byproducts by mixing desulfurized gypsum instead of quicklime and anhydrous gypsum which are natural resources for manufacturing an insulation material; and to a manufacturing method thereof. The method for manufacturing a mineral hydrate insulation material using desulfurized gypsum according to the present invention comprises the following steps: forming a mixture by adding 0.6 wt% of aluminum powder to 100 wt% of a mixed powder material consisting of 50 wt% of OPC, 35 wt% of quartzite, and 15 wt% of desulfurized gypsum; manufacturing slurry by adding 130 wt% of mixing water to the mixture; and generating a cured form by aging, hydrothermally synthesizing, and drying the slurry.
