A coating composition of the present invention prevents the oxidation of discarded rock or mineral by forming an inactive coating film by coating the discarded rock or mineral having the possibility of generating acid drainage. The coating composition of the present invention preventing the oxidation of sulfide mineral by coating the surface of the sulfide mineral including iron, comprises: an oxidizing agent oxidizing the sulfide mineral, and generating trivalent iron; a solution including silicate forming ferro-silicate salts on the surface of the sulfide mineral by reacting with the trivalent iron; and a pH fixer maintaining the pH of the silicate solution to be in a certain range.
