The present invention provides a method for evaluating social engagement using an electroencephalogram. The method according to the present invention can be used as a tool for three-dimensional model engineers, animation makers, artificial intelligence developers and remote-augmented reality system makers to objectively evaluate social engagement with respect to an object developed in the fields of game design, movie-making, character animations, etc. Usually a subjective psycho-physical scale method is used to evaluate social engagement felt by a user. But the traditional evaluation method cannot control the psychological distortion of the user, which occurs in the evaluation process, even if well-devised evaluation forms and questions are used. Also, concrete and logical grounds are not provided with respect to a methodology for evaluating social engagement and the validity verification of a measuring method is not sufficient. The present invention is very useful as a basic research for objectively evaluating social engagement with respect to a developed virtual object environment. The method for evaluating social engagement using an electroencephalogram comprises the steps of: measuring the brain waves of an examinee who is psychologically stimulated by an external stimulus; classifying the brain waves by band; analyzing at least one among the absolute power, relative power and spectral edge frequency of the brain waves for each band; determining increase or decrease in at least one among the perceptional element, emotional element and behavioral element of social engagement depending on the result of the analysis; and evaluating the social engagement of the examinee depending on the increase or decrease in the elements.;COPYRIGHT KIPO 2016
