The present invention relates to spherical porous silica having various pore structural characteristics and a preparation method thereof. The preparation method of the present invention can adjust density of mesopores and skeletal structure of a synthesized silica specimen based on synthesis conditions. Also, according to the present invention, hierarchical porous silica can be prepared by additionally forming micropores with adjustable sizes and distribution in spherical mesoporous silica through phase separation from a solvent in a silica colloid suspension with respect to the length of the carbon chain of an added alkane. The manufacturing method of the present invention uses an aerosol process and thus can produce mesoporous silica in a large quantity.
