The present invention relates to an Oryza sativa iron transporter (OsIT) which is an iron transporting gene derived from rice and is composed of a base sequence represented by sequence number 1. The present invention further relates to a method for increasing iron usability in plants in comparison with a non-transformant by transforming a plant cell through introducing a recombinant vector including the gene encoding OsIT protein thereto; a method for producing a transgenic plant in which the iron usability is increased in comparison with the non-transformant, by transforming the plant cell through introducing a recombinant vector including the gene encoding the OsIT protein; a transgenic plant in which iron usability is increased in comparison with the non-transformant produced by the method, and a seed thereof; and a composition for increasing iron usability in plants, containing, as an active ingredient, the gene encoding the OsIT protein composed of amino acid sequence represented by sequence number 2.
