The present invention relates to a nitrogen transport Oryza sativa nitrate transporter 1 (OsNRT1) gene derived from rice which is constituted by a base sequence in sequence number 1; a method for further increasing the nitrogen utilization of a plant than a non-transgenic plant by injecting a recombinant vector including the OsNRT1 protein coding gene into a plant cell; a method for manufacturing a transgenic plant increased with the nitrogen utilization of the plant than the non-transgenic plant by injecting the recombinant vector including the OsNRT1 protein coding gene into a plant cell; the transgenic plant increased with the nitrogen utilization of the plant than the non-transgenic plant manufactured by the above method; seeds of the same; and a composition for increasing the nitrogen utilization of the plant, which includes the gene for coding OsNRT1 protein, constituted by the amino acid sequence in sequence number 2, as an active component. According to the present invention, the plant can be grown even in a condition lacking nitrogen.
