In the production of hydrogen peroxide, when the higher alcohol component in the organic solvent is changed to the ketone body and the ketone body is increased, the water content of the working solution is lowered, resulting in deterioration of catalytic activity. In addition, the solubility of the anthrahydroquinones is lowered due to the increase of the ketone bodies, and crystallization and precipitation may cause the obstacles to the stable and safe operation in the production of hydrogen peroxide. An object of the present invention is to provide a method for improving the production efficiency of hydrogen peroxide by regenerating the altered substance (ketone body) derived from a polar solvent in the working solution used for the production of hydrogen peroxide by the anthraquinone method as an original alcohol component . The organic solvent component containing the ketone body is separated from the aged working solution by distillation and hydrogenation in the presence of the metal catalyst is regenerated as the original alcohol component, whereby the hydrogen peroxide can be produced more efficiently.
