The present invention relates to a manufacturing method of quaternary ammonium salt and an electric double layer capacitor using the quaternary ammonium salt manufactured thereby, comprising the following steps of: conducting reaction by adding trimethylamine and chloromethyl methyl ether to a first solvent; generating trimethyl methoxy methyl ammonium chloride, which is white sediment, in the previous reaction; separating trimethyl methoxy methyl ammonium chloride selectively by pressurizing and filtering the resultant through the previous step; adding the selectively separated trimethyl methoxy methyl ammonium chloride and tetrafluoro succinic acid to a second solvent and conducting reaction of the same; obtaining a pressurized concentrate by pressurizing and distilling the resultant through the previous step; adding methylene chloride and distilled water to the pressurized concentrate to extract an organic layer and pressurizing and distilling the same; and adding the resultant pressurized and distilled in the previous step to a third solvent to precipitate a sediment, separating the sediment selectively from the resultant to obtain N_111,1O1BF_4.
