The present invention relates to an equation to calculate an axial length without actually measuring the axial length in order to apply a variable, called the axial length, to design a personalized progressive additional ophthalmic lens and a monofocal ophthalmic lens. According to the present invention, a calculation method enables the axial length to be calculated with high reliability using only a corneal radius value and a spherical equivalent refraction anomaly value. The calculation equation in accordance with the present invention enables the personalized progressive additional ophthalmic lenses and the monofocal ophthalmic lenses, to which the axial length is precisely applied, to be designed and commercialized. The present invention induces a numerical equation 1 to obtain the axial length of an emmetropic eye in accordance with the corneal radius via a proportional equation using ocular dimensions of a Gullstrands simplified schematic eye. The numerical equation 1 is emmeAL = 24.0CR/7.8, where CR indicates the corneal radius value.
