The present invention relates to a mobile terminal and an icon collision control method thereof. The mobile terminal includes: a display unit displaying multiple icons; a memory storing information area related to the displayed icons; and a control unit which executes a control operation in accordance with icon collision types and properties when a first icon and a second icon among the displayed icons collide. When the first and second icons are function icons, the control unit determines hierarchy level values of the first and second function icons based on the information stored in the memory and executes the functions of the first and second icons in accordance with the determined hierarchy level values.
