The present invention relates to a method and system for fractionating and liquefying a natural gas feed stream. Natural gas is fractionated in a rectification tower first. The top vapor from the rectification tower is cooled, condensed and divided to form a first liquefied stream, a second liquefied stream and at least one additional liquefied stream of the first top vapor. The first liquefied stream of the first top vapor is returned to the rectification tower as a reflux stream. The second liquefied stream of the first top vapor forms an LNG product. The additional liquefied stream of the first top vapor is used to provide or produce reflux for a demethanizer column used for fractionating the bottom liquid from the rectification tower.
