Provided are a method and a device to calculate stride information. The device to calculate stride information calculates stride information of an object using a first inertia signal and a second inertia signal. The first inertia signal is provided from a first inertia sensor of a portable terminal of an object, and the second inertia signal is provided from the second inertia sensor attached on a shoe of the object. The device to calculate stride information calculates a stride parameter using the second inertia signal when in a state where the second inertia signal is provided and when the second inertia signal is not provided, and the device uses a previously calculated stride parameter to calculate the stride of an object.
