The present invention relates to an apparatus which prevents fire and explosion incidents by gas leakage through detecting the leakage using a combustible gas sensor when fuel gas such as LNG, LPG, or H_2 is leaked, and associatedly controlling an alarm, a breaker, a ventilator, and a window; and to a method for controlling the same. The present invention provides an apparatus for preventing gas leakage explosion and fire incidents, which includes: a gas sensor which detects combustible gas; a detecting unit which amplifies and detects an electric signal detected by the gas sensor; and a control unit which controls the alarm, the breaker, and the ventilator on the basis of the detected signal. The present invention also provides a method for preventing a gas leakage explosion and fire incident, which includes the following steps: detecting the combustible gas using the gas sensor; comparing the concentration of reference gas with the concentration of the detected gas; generating an explosion danger warning when the concentration of the detected gas exceeds the concentration of the reference gas for a set time; and controlling the breaker and the ventilator on the basis of the concentration of the detected gas.
