Disclosed is a cruise control system capable of automatically performing the fuel cut-off inertial driving of a vehicle from a starting point of a downhill section instead of the steady-speed driving of the vehicle when the vehicle drives in the downhill section, automatically re-accelerating the vehicle at a re-acceleration speed (a_re-acceleration), which is a constant preset in a memory from a re-acceleration starting speed (V_2) determined according to procedure set in the below before the downhill section ends, driving the vehicle at a speed identical to a reference speed (V_1) when the downhill section starts at a location where the downhill section ends, and thereafter driving the vehicle at a steady speed. The cruise control system of the present invention is capable of performing an eco-drive function of an optimal driving pattern in the downhill section, instead of driving the vehicle at the steady speed, thereby being economical by optimally improving the fuel efficiency of the vehicle.
