Disclosed are an apparatus and a method for controlling a smart plug using a beacon. A smart plug control apparatus according to an embodiment may include a beacon signal detection part which detects a beacon signal to be connected to a home energy management system, an authentication part which performs authentication on the smart plug control device when the beacon signal is detected, and a control part which transmits a control signal of the smart plug to the beacon to control the smart plug, when the authentication is successful. So, security can be secured.
